Two Detentions Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
