World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this marks the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
